What is FocusOn?
FocusOn is an app for helping you to focus on your daily life or work instead of wasting time on distracting apps or sites. FocusOn can disconnect distracting apps or sites for a while that you want to block, and this approach is helpful for you when you want to focus on your daily life or work.
How to use FocusOn?
It’s easy and simple. Just tap “Choose Blocked Apps” button that is at the bottom center of the screen, and choose apps that you want to disconnect. And, tap “Activate” button, then you will see the VPN badge at the top of the screen, and the chosen apps will be disconnected. When you’re done focusing, then you can stop disconnections to the apps anytime by tapping “Deactivate”.
Why FocusOn use VPN?
The main feature of FocusOn is to block network traffic in distracting apps that you’ve selected. To do this, FocusOn uses local VPN technology in iOS. There is no alternative way to do it in iOS, so FocusOn uses VPN.
Do my data in target apps deliver to VPN server?
No, FocusOn does not use remote proxies or remote VPN servers. The processing for blocking network traffic only happens on your device thanks to local VPN technology. Also, it doesn’t slow down your network because your data in target apps don’t deliver to proxy servers.
I’ve activated FocusOn, but I still can use blocked apps like Facebook or Instagram.
Some apps display contents that are stored in your device even if your device is offline. It’s called local cache data. You can check FocusOn is working as expected by trying to pull the Timeline in Facebook or Instagram to refresh contents. If it doesn’t work well, then FocusOn is running as expected. If you still could see recent content unexpectedly, then try to force stop the target apps once. Then, it would be blocked after restarting the target apps.
Can you add more apps to block in the list?
Sure, please create and submit a support ticket at https://support.bitsbaker.com/focuson with the apps you want to block. We could consider adding it to the list with internal testing.
Activating doesn’t work.
